1. Lotus Pond of Longchang Temple

The autumnal water gains limpid Cold, anew,
A remnant of Pink dyes half-broken blossoms.
How desolate, and more solitary this is!
Which outdoes the world and history.
冷碧新秋水，残红半破莲。
从来寥落意，不似此池边

What a bleak scene of the wintry night!
How many feelings h***e been shaken off!
The moon bears the hues of the frosts late,
Hammers beat and echo the wild geese afar.
For warmth one keeps close to the fire in stove,
Feeling cold I feel both quilt and clothes are light.
I’ve been, on the pillow, composing for poetic lines,
A verse has been completed but the dream fulfilled.
凄清冬夜景，
摇落长年情。
月带新霜色，
砧和远雁声。
暖怜炉火近，
寒觉被衣轻。
枕上酬佳句，
诗成梦不成。

The lamp’s flame is going to its end,
Distant sound echoes the hourglass.
An aged man keeps close to fire for warmth,
Thelittle lasshas been sewing stitch by stitch.
Hedges h***e gone through rains while chrysanthemums withered,
The duckweeds h***e vanished and the river is stained with frosts.
This winter I heat the winethat’s too cold,
Which was originally for you, as intended.
焰细灯将尽，
声遥漏正长。
老人秋向火，
小女夜缝裳。
菊悴篱经雨，
萍销水得霜。
今冬暖寒酒，
先拟共君尝。
4. Later Return after Seeing One Off

Clouds in mists open over the city walls,
Wind and w***es lull by the sandy bank.
Peaks soar in disorder high or low,
The limped river lies in tranquil clarity.
My guest is awayin the boat afar,
His host comes sober from the wine.
The tips of bamboo twigs sway in dancing graces,
Cicadas in the West Land chirp like stone clappers.
城上云雾开，
沙头风浪定。
参差乱山出，
澹泞平江净。
行客舟已远，
居人酒初醒。
袅袅秋竹梢，
巴蝉声似磬。
5. Farewell Bidden by West River in Rain

Darkclouds, pouring rain in profusion of confusion,
The river dim, water flowing, stealthy and quiet.
Wind arises urging for the boat to be untied,
No moon accompanies me to ascend the tower.
Drinking over, drinkers feel little high,
The sail up, the passenger is still held.
What is seen is only a dot of fire,
In distance I recognize his boat.
云黑雨翛翛，
江昏水暗流。
有风催解缆，
无月伴登楼。
酒罢无多兴，
帆开不少留。
唯看一点火，
遥认是行舟。

Autumnal flowers purple,
Autumnal butterflies yellow;
Flowers low, and butterflies little,
They fly in floral clusters to and fro.
The sun sets as chills are coming up,
They land among flowers one and all.
As night deepens with white dews cool,
They h***e died inthe foliages now.
Birth in the morn and death in the even,
Lives of such creatures conform to Nature.
Immortal cranes living for a thousands year are not found as yet,
Pine trees growing for a hundred feet are commonly seen for sure.
秋花紫蒙蒙，
秋蝶黄茸茸。
花低蝶新小，
飞戏丛西东。
日暮凉风来，
纷纷花落丛。
夜深白露冷，
蝶已死丛中。
朝生夕俱死，
气类各相从。
不见千年鹤，
多栖百丈松。
7. A Lonely Pilgrimage to the Temple of Mount T’u

Tr***eling on the wild path without a companion,
I expect to stay overnight in the monks’ chamber.
Mount T’u is so familiar, either outbound or return,
But only to my horse with hoofs treading on the road.
野径行无伴，
僧房宿有期。
涂山来去熟，
唯是马蹄知。
